Meet Our Speakers

Dean Lupini
Key Logic Software Solutions
Dean Lupini is a software developer who creates elegant solutions to practical challenges. With 18 years of experience, he has focused on 3D graphics, algorithm design, embedded systems, and industrial software systems.
Dean’s foundation is a Math degree at Waterloo, with Honours in Computer Science / Bioinformatics, and a Master of Applied Science in Mining Engineering from Laurentian. He then acquired work experience both locally and abroad before founding a software company of his own in Sudbury. Through this company he continues to design, develop, and manage commercialized products to address real challenges with valued solutions.

Heather Knight
HK Industrial
Heather Knight is the co-founder and lead designer at HK Industrial, based in Sudbury, Ontario. With a wide-ranging background that spans sales, logistics, construction, and hospitality, Heather brings a unique perspective to problem-solving and product development.
Since founding HK Industrial in 2020 with her husband and business partner, Steven, Heather has focused on designing and producing practical gear tailored to the needs of workers in mining, construction, and other demanding industries. The company’s best-known product, the Big Yella™ backpack, was developed through direct feedback from workers and has since become a staple on job sites across Canada.
Heather’s approach is simple: listen closely to the people using the products, build with quality in mind, and keep manufacturing as local as possible. Most HK Industrial products are proudly made in Northern Ontario, reflecting her commitment to the community.

Philip Stringer
Triple Point Biologics
Philip Stringer is a graduate of Laurentian Universities’ Biochemisty program and started working at AMRIC before moving into Environmental Science for the Federal Government. Philip acquired Triple Point in 2024 to lead the expansion of the business into recombinant antibody technologies as a more ethical solution for antibodies to Researchers worldwide.
Homegrown Ventures – A Greater Sudbury Entrepreneurial Showcase is meant to be inspirational and provide motivation for new businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs to get their business ideas off the ground or to push their existing businesses to the next level. Featuring three local business owners, this event will include individual presentations and a panel discussion with Q&A. We invite you to also partake in some post-event networking and refreshments.
