Meet the 2017 alumni

Water Ski North
Joey Cecutti - Water Ski North

Joey has taught many different sports over the last 15 years, but he decided he likes teaching water skiing the most. His business is Water Ski North, and Joey and his 5 staff teach people in the Northern Ontario / Greater Sudbury community all manner of towed water sports. Water Ski North provides all necessary equipment and even makes house calls. The two main services offered are a youth summer camp on Lake Ramsey and private lessons in the Sudbury and Espanola areas.

Firefly Outdoors Inc.
Mitchell Churchill - Firefly Outdoors Inc.

After taking his first sales job during the summer of 2016, Mitch knew exactly what he was meant to be doing: sales. He changed his major to business for the following semester in college. At the end of the summer of 2016 he decided that being 20 years of age was as good a time as any to open his own business. He had an idea for a water bottle with a light source in it for but had no idea where to start. He reached out to any resource he could find to make his dream of being a business owner come true.

Grill'd Cheese 2 Pls
 Melody Coulas - Grill'd Cheese 2 Pls

Melody someday hopes to run her own empire.  She has always been a big dreamer and is willing to work hard at turning those dreams into reality.  Operating her food business did not happen without a few struggles.  The biggest challenge was designing and modifying a food vendor cart to accommodate a griddle rather than your typical BBQ used in hot dog carts.  This proved quite the challenge, but after many hours of innovating and altering the cart, a suitable design was finally achieved.

 EFE Vintage
 Emma Fraser-Ellott - EFE Vintage

In the Summer Company program, Emma has enjoyed the opportunity to see her business plan take form. Her company, EFE Vintage is a Sudbury based company, yet the company hopes to reach others around the world through social media pages and a website. This business sells collectable and name brand clothing items, but we also have some basic finds like our Levi modified shorts and vintage pins. Emma’s business can also be found at different events on both Manitoulin Island and Sudbury.

 Up From the Shore Studio
Isaac Gosse - Up From the Shore Studio

Isaac is originally from London Ontario, and he moved to Manitoulin Island when he was 9. He is a musician, and has been playing piano since he was three. He has always loved music with incredible passion. Just a few years ago, Isaac discovered the recording studio trade and became interested in becoming a studio engineer. He fell in love with the job title and has strived for the possibility of owning his own studio one day. Through Summer Company, that big dream that he thought would never come true, came true!

 Creation Card Co.
Kelly Yang - Creation Card Co.

Kelly has decided to pursue a business education because she loves innovation and the freedom to develop in any direction imaginable. Throughout her life, she has always loved working with others. She ultimately decided that the business field could allow her to create deep personal connections that other fields cannot. Kelly intends to eventually pursue business with a scientific scope. The Summer Company program has been monumental in providing her with firsthand business experience that she could not obtain elsewhere.
